Doctors Without Borders is a medical-humanitarian action organization : we assist people threatened by armed conflict, violence, epidemics or neglected diseases, natural disasters and exclusion from medical care.
Our teams are made up of thousands of health professionals , logistics specialists and administrative personnel , united and governed by our Magna Carta in pursuit of providing humanitarian assistance. Humanitarian action is a gesture of solidarity from civil society to civil society, from person to person, whose purpose is to preserve life and alleviate the suffering of other human beings: this is our reason for being. Our actions are guided by medical ethics and the principles of impartiality, independence and neutrality , which are found in our Magna Carta.
